ACL Live at Moody Theater is one of the landmark entertainment attractions in Austin, Texas.
It is a state-of-the-art music venue that is home to about 100 different concerts annually, holds close to 3,000 people, and is the permanent home of the critically acclaimed PBS series titled Austin City Limits. Of note, this is the longest-running music series in the history of American Television.
For this first 36 years of its running, Austin City Limits was actually taped on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin.
In this studio during performances, the audience was actually limited to about 300 people due to fire safety reasons. The show itself was later inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In an attempt to update the capacity and sound equipment the show made plans to move to the cutting edge facilities of the Moody Theater. In 2011, the show conducted its first taping in the ACL Live Moody Theater, its current home.
